So, today I took a warm shower, trickle water but OK, and washed my hair. same clothes since Sunday morning so that felt awesome. Dad lent me some old shoes and we all went to the house. Well, the shoes lasted about half an hour when we got to the house, soles fell off cause of the caustic water. So, I duck taped them and went to find shoes. Kohls was closed, so I drove to the mall, and it was open. Ahh, Dillard’s was open, the last refuge of someone desperately seeking shoes…. I sauntered through the mall in my shorts, nasty shirt and duck taped feet, with two clean pairs of socks in my hand, (so I could try on the shoes, no one would allow those nasty socks I was wearing in new shoes!) I was probably scaring small children and the little old ladies in the food court. I shambled through the store looking for the shoes department and found a salesman named Michael who happened to live quite near my house. He found me a wide pair of size 12 white Nike shoes for only 55 bucks, and I wore them out of the store and dropped those nasty, duck taped, bromhidrosis filled, stinky footwear in the oubliette to later frighten the poor mall janitor that has to empty that trash. Ah, fresh shoes…. it is the little things that count. I own a pair of shoes!

The house had about 2 feet of water in it, drained today, garage still has water, flood has not retreated completely. We got out the food that was still good, turned on the power and started the AC to try to dehumidify. Tomorrow, we salvage what we can and wait for the adjuster. Need to find out if we are tearing it down or if we are fixing it. Going to be a busy, backbreaking day. Was very sad to see the house like this, we did so much renovation in the last 22 years and it is just sad to see it in ruin. We got some clothes that were not damaged out, so I have something to wear tomorrow, and SHOES! Will post some pictures, I videotaped the walk through for insurance.

The good news is we are OK, cats are OK, and we have friends, neighbors and family helping us. Still do not know where we will live whilst this is going on, but that should not too hard to do. I think we should buy a huge sailboat and live on that while we renovate, Carla does not think that is a good idea. OK, how about a camper! Cats say no to camper. Oh well, a guy can dream…. Hope you all are safe and well, I feel much better today than yesterday. What a difference a shower, clean hair and a pair of sneakers can make.
