September 20th, 2017, 8 days after the flood. We figured out how to turn Carla’s cell phone into a mobile hot spot, we now have internet at our new abode. I remember when internet was dialup, then I got ISDN. Then DUAL B ISDN, wow…… I am old. Our house is torn apart, public adjuster coming Saturday. We are staying at a friends house, they graciously offered it to us while we are “homeless”.

Once we talk to the adjusters, we will have a better idea of what we are going to do with our place. 17 inches of standing water has a way of ruining all your stuff. Right now, I have 7 pairs of undies, 7 pairs of socks, 7 shirts and 5 pairs of pants…. 7 outfits, 7 days in the week, on the seventh day, thou shalt do laundry.

We both plan on living minimalist for the foreseeable future as it will be easier since we know not where the misty path leads. We finished loading the roll off with the debris from the house, 3rd roll off container, whoopee! We have no more to do at the house till the adjusters, so tomorrow I work on my customers stuff, Carla repairs her laptop and begins inputting the inventory of lost soles, (get it, shoe joke).

We are both really tired, we have been going strong since the day before the hurricane and looks like we are getting, somewhat, normal again. Thanks to all my family, friends and others who helped us during this time, could not have done it without you. Carla and I are in our new place, the cats are here, they are still freaked out, but all is better. You can tell they are freaked because they are being nice to us, or hiding.

My advice, keep on smiling and spread cheer to all you meet, it will make you feel better. Trust me, it really works. Oh, and we ate out for lunch today, Mack’s tenders, best chicken tenders in the known universe. Love you all. take care.
