Puck is the 3rd piece by Edvard Grieg in Opus 71 Lyrics Pieces, Book 10. I love the song, it is fast climatic and has an amazing structure. I also really appreciate the dynamics and the tempo changes in the song. With this composition as the base, I interpreted Puck using three synthesizers mixed for the right hand of the piece and again three synthesizers for the left hand. Patches included a pulse wave and also a sampled Fender Rhodes and a sampled electric guitar.
I plan on including this piece in my forthcoming album, Peer Gynt’s Peer where I perform the music from Opus 46, Peer Gynt , Suite #1.
As the piece did not have percussion, I scored my own drum accompaniment and I think it really adds to the piece. I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to your comments.
